Meet Kathryn!

I’m Kathryn Merrow, the Pain Relief Coach. I’ve been helping people get out of pain since 1993. There are simple, easy steps that you can take to help get rid of your pain, but first you need to understand why you are hurting. Second, you need to know what to do to feel better.
I’m not a doctor nor a physical therapist, and I don’t even play one on television, but I have a goal. My goal is to give you the help you need to get stronger, get straighter and get pain-free as simply as possible.
I established the Muscular Therapy Clinic, Inc., (Trenton MI) in 1993. I’ve done over 20,000 therapeutic and neuromuscular massage sessions since then. You may contact me at simplepainrelief(at)sbcglobal(dot)net.
Most of the people I see have pain, and I have had my own pain to overcome, too. Let me help overcome your pain. Let me help you get strong, simply.
“Because you deserve to feel better!”

I googled pain relief and came upon your site. What a wonderful set of tips and an absolute wealth of information. May you continue to help people until the world is pain free!!
Dear Paul,
Thank you for your kind comments. My goal is to help as many people as I possibly can become pain free. When people understand why they hurt they can begin to heal themselves. Love, Mom
Kathryn, Really great stuff here. I have preached the walk for knee pain relief to many on my patients. I have a Squidoo lens on carpal tunnel, back pain and Plantar fasciitis. I would love to know more about what you are doing.
I READ A FEW OF YOUR ARTICLES ABOUT KNOTS AND HOW THEY COME ABOUT. I AM RIGHT HANDED BUT THAT’S NOT THE SIDE MY KNOT IS ON. IT’S DEEP UNDER MY LEFT SHOULDER BLADE AND I’VE HAD TO DEAL WITH IT’S PAIN FOR YEARS. I’VE DONE THE TENNIS BALL BUT IT’S RELIEF, IF ANY IS VERY SHORT LIVED. WHILE I CAN BEGIN WORKING ON STRENGTHENING MY BACK, WHAT’S THE BEST IMMEDIATE REMEDY? ALL THE PAIN I FEEL STEMS FROM ONE SMALL POINT THAT I CAN LITERALLY PINPOINT. DOES ACUPUNCTURE HAVE ANY EFFECT?
Hi Nadia,
I believe I replied to you by email to make sure you got the answer quickly. I hope I did.
Here are more thoughts: You are using the muscles on the left side of your back more than the right, for some reason. Sometimes it’s carrying a baby, bag or purse. Maybe something at work causes you to work with your left elbow behind your body?
I’d suggest getting a massage therapist or someone who isn’t afraid to ‘hurt’ you a little to massage, rub, lift and roll the muscles on your left side all the way from your waist to your shoulder blade or the top of your shoulder. By massaging and warming the muscle area first, it will make it a bit less uncomfortable to then ‘pinch’ and lift the muscles to relax them.
Don’t have someone pinch only the skin–they need to pick up the muscle. Of course, a professional massage therapist may use muscle stretching techniques to help smooth these muscles.

I hope this helps.
